I do different things. Sometimes I scream, sometimes I dance, sometimes I cry, sometimes I go completely calm and still. Almost all of my most joyful moments have been in nature. My most joyful/profound experience was in Egypt. I climbed Mt Sinai to see the sunset. On the way down, when all of the tourists were leaving, there was a short pause in the chatting-just for a few moments there was no sound. I looked out into the distant horizon and my heart opened completely. I had never nor have I since felt such pure love. It was like nothing could touch me or effect me. Like, If I walked into the worst war zone I would be completely safe and loved. I was with a small group of people and I tried to get them to connect to the experience; but it didn’t work. I ended up walking down the winding camel path alone; so I could savor the feeling longer. I cried the whole way down. As I walked the stars began to come out little by little they multiplied in the sky. When I met the rest of the group at the bottom, we all stood staring in reverence at the sky for a very long time. I believe that any experience of joy is like a new pathway that opens up. When you revisit your memory, you can re-experience it many times over and multiple the joy!

I love that. You have great long hair which I imagine made the wind playing with it more dramatic. Thanks for sharing!

I am somewhere between the spender and indifferent. I will save for something like a big trip or to pay off overspending after a trip.

I have not been good about reading lately. I am learning speed reading; so I can finish the ever growing pile of books I want to finish. My favorite books are those that shift how I look at life in some significant, life-changing way or that have helped me see the profound magic in the “common place.” Here is a small list:

The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell – changed the way I looked at my life path and my religion. I read every book/author he sited in the book as well.

The Spell of The Sensuous by David Abraham – broadened my view and perspective of nature, energy, and the mystical as well as how I look at the world.

A Natural History of the Senses by Diane Ackerman – eloquently written and fascinating facts about the senses.

Fearfully and Wonderfully made by Phillip Yancy and Dr Paul Brand – made me view how my body works with awe and reverence.

Happy Money by Ken Honda – My philosophy had already begun to shift towards to the same vein of Ken’s book. The book helped me transfer my feelings more clearly to words and has also added new perspectives to how I view my relationship to money.

The Essential Rumi by Coleman Banks – mystical prose. – poetic life lessons.

Deviate: the science of seeing life differently by Beau Lotto – changed the way I looked at reality and perspective.

    These are heavier reads:

Anti-fragile: Things that Gain From Disorder by Nassim Nicholas Taleb-changed the way I looked at chaos, my job, economics, and uncertainty.

The Relentless Business of Treaties By Marty Case – totally changed the way I look at the economy, government, and big business.

I’ve never heard of Umeboshi or Red Shish. I am intrigued- will have to look for both here to try.

I love blending watermelon and mint together to keep cool.

Wow! I what a wonderful way to spend your day. What kind of energy work do you do or have you evolved your own methods?
